MES Celebrates Grandparents

Grandparent's Day

MES hosted over 400 people on September 12th to celebrate our Grandparents.  This has been a tradition at MES for 21 years that was started by Mary Susan Hale who was the director for Parent Involvement and Janis Barton who was the principal at the time.  After 21 years, it’s still one of our favorite events of the year.  Over the years, Grandparent’s Day has been celebrated with either a breakfast or lunch.  Recently, the event has been moved to the evening in order to give more grandparents an opportunity to attend.  Grandparents and their grandchildren were treated to refreshments, crafts and a picture to take home.  “We would love to know how many pictures we have taken over the years.  I run into people all the time that say they still have their pictures hanging on their refrigerators at home,” said Georgia Antuna with the Family Resource Center.  Grandparents are an important part of a child’s life and MES will continue to recognize and celebrate Grandparents.
