Appalachian author and Middlesboro resident, KA Potter-Hughes, visited with the Advanced Placement English classes at MHS this week. Potter-Hughes recently published her debut novel,Deserter, that chronicles her grandfather's life through an historical fiction perspective. A retired MHS teacher, Potter-Hughes spoke with students about the writing process, offered them advice on developing their own writing, and shared with them a scary short story she has just completed. Students studied an excerpt of her novel prior to her visit. Her book is available through Amazon.
