Among the items on the agenda during the Middlesboro Board of Education Meeting held on Monday was recognition of elementary and middle/high school teachers of the month. They were recognized by Sheila Smith.
Elementary teacher of the month Kim Saylor teaches fifth grade language arts at Middlesboro Intermediate. Her letter of nomination stated, “Mrs. Saylor is an outstanding teacher, one of the best! She demonstrates leadership, preparation and consistency in the classroom. Her teaching is not a one-time fabulous event, but a consistent prepared lesson that enables her students to learn. She goes beyond what is required and has earned the recognition of Outstanding Teacher.
Mrs. Georgina Anderson who teaches 8th grade science at MMS was recognized as middle/high school teacher of the month. Her letter of nomination stated, “She has made improvements in every facet of teaching to include relationships with students and classroom management. Her colleagues say she has made the biggest turn-around of any teacher they have ever worked with. Mrs. Anderson has taken on the task of implementing a new program, Project Lead the Way. She has secured over $10,000 in grant money for Middlesboro Middle School.”
