Why Choose MHS?

Where Everyone Matters

Middlesboro students advance to the next level in their academic journey at an exemplary high school that cultivates strong academic achievement and promotes innovative, higher level learning to ensure students are college/career ready and become contributing members of a diverse global community. Mr. Bobby Bennett, the faculty and staff at Middlesboro High School work diligently to offer a rigorous academic program, including Project Lead the Way, that teaches real world skills for the 21st century.

Partnering with Southeast Kentucky Community & Technical College, MHS provides students with the opportunity to pursue an Associates Degree while earning a high school diploma.  Dual-credit Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered so that students may take and experience college-level classes while in high school.

Taking learning to new heights, students at MHS can experience and learn about aviation through the Air and Space Academy, which includes an Aviation Lab. Work in this lab includes the use of a flight simulator.

Communication skills are learned and enhanced through participation in Middlesboro High School’s radio station (WYJR-LP) and “The Beeline” newspaper.  Students learn “real-world skills” and find out what it takes to run a radio station and publish a newspaper.
