Dear Middlesboro Independent School District Family,
Welcome back, Yellow Jackets! As we gear up for another exciting school year, I am filled with enthusiasm and pride for what lies ahead. This marks my eighth year as your superintendent, and I am more committed than ever to ensuring our students, staff, and families have an outstanding and successful year.
Our district has always been a beacon of excellence, thanks to the dedication and hard work of our incredible educators, staff, students, and parents. This year promises to be filled with new opportunities for learning, growth, and community building. Whether you are returning or joining us for the first time, I want you to know that you are an essential part of the Middlesboro family.
Our commitment to providing a high-quality education remains steadfast. We will continue to implement innovative teaching strategies, support our teachers with professional development, and ensure our students have the resources they need to succeed. We are proud to prioritize STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education and project-based learning across our district. These approaches are critical in developing critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. By engaging in hands-on projects, our students learn to apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios, preparing them for future success.
Additionally, this year we are excited to implement the Portrait of a Learner initiative, which aims to ensure our students are well-rounded individuals ready to thrive in a complex, ever-changing world. This initiative focuses on developing key competencies such as collaboration, communication, and adaptability, ensuring our students are equipped with the skills needed for lifelong success.
A strong community is the foundation of a great school district. We encourage everyone to get involved, whether it's through volunteering, attending school events, or participating in parent-teacher organizations. Together, we can create a supportive and inclusive environment for all. The well-being of our students is our top priority. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment where every student feels valued and supported. Our counselors, teachers, and staff are here to assist with any needs our students may have.
We also believe in the importance of a well-rounded education. Our district offers a variety of extracurricular activities, from sports to arts and clubs. I encourage every student to find their passion and get involved.
I am excited about the new initiatives we will be rolling out this year and look forward to seeing the incredible achievements of our students. Let's work together to make this year one of the best yet!
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to our district. Let's embrace the new school year with enthusiasm and Yellow Jacket pride!
Go Yellow Jackets!
Warm regards,
Waylon Allen
