Two Middlesboro High School Students Accepted into Prestigious Program With MIT Aieza Ahmad and Kayla Heck, juniors at MHS, were both accepted into the MIT Beaver Works Fall 2023 Outreach Program.

Middlesboro, KY — Thanks to a partnership between Middlesboro Schools and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), two students from Middlesboro High School (MHS) have a chance to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Aieza Ahmad and Kayla Heck, juniors at MHS, were both accepted into the MIT Beaver Works Fall 2023 Outreach Program. This program focuses specifically on 11th grade girls across the nation who have interests in STEM-based fields.

Middlesboro Middle School Crowns Female Football Player as 2023 Homecoming Queen MMS Homecoming Queen and Escort

Middlesboro, KY — Middlesboro Middle School etched its name in history on Thursday evening when it crowned Miss
Liliana "Lily" Serinity Partin as the 2023 football homecoming queen. Lily, who is a member of the MMS 7th and 8th-grade
football team, made a bold statement by choosing to walk onto the field in her football uniform after being nominated to
represent the 8th grade in the homecoming court. This courageous decision was emblematic of Lily's dedication to her
sport.

Wellness Policy Findings and Recommendations

Findings:

Due to COVID-19, we are trying to safely provide healthy meals and physical activity time for our students.

Students are given a trace amount of caffeine at MHS in breakfast lattes. (N)

Each principal will discuss a safety route for the city for students who walk or ride a bike. (P)

The board did purchase outdoor equipment for food service to deliver to the virtual students so they could get more activity outdoors.(P)
